Who knew?
My new interest of the week (obsession-in-training, I think) is podcasts. Who knew how great they are? I didn't until I read on Lifehacker about free language lessons via podcast. So I looked into it, and discovered some really cool stuff, including Turkish (through some foreign service website, which will - hopefully - make me the star of my Turkish class) and Spanish. Then I found the "quick and dirty" series - which includes Grammar Girl, Money Girl, and Mr. Manners - all like radio shows, but more educational, and I can take them with me and listen to them whenever I feel like it. NPR also has some podcasts, like "This American Life," which will be awesome for my students. And then I found a free daily yoga podcast from Jackson Hole, of all places, which I can listen to when I don't feel like the gym. The best part is that so far, all the stuff I've found is free! And I can keep old episodes on my computer or ipod and listen to them more than once!! This is almost better than the library!!!
Those of you who have known about podcasts for years, please excuse my enthusiasm. Give me recommendations! I'm just really excited that I have something new and fun to do on the train/bus/treadmill, and something more interesting and educational to listen to besides the horrible radio shows here.
In other news, the couch was moved to Inga's room, as was my comforter and one pillow. My bathrobe, which I had left hanging in the bathroom, turned up in Inga's closet after Patrick's Christmas laundry frenzy (glad I missed that).
