You're probably over my Gdansk vacation by now, but I'm not. Aaaah, the beach. Also, there are a few pictures I still wanted to post for you, although you can see all of them on my Flickr page (click on the Flickr box to the left).

One of the most relaxing things about vacationing in a place where you don't speak the language is that you can't understand the advertising. In some places, you can guess what they're saying. In Poland, you can't. This, for example, is the display window of a Polish office supply store. Yes, those are dead, stuffed rodents guarding the fax macines. I'm not sure exactly what the gimmick here was supposed to be (and I'm really only assuming that it's the office machines for sale and not the animals), but it certainly made me stop and stare.

This is the best fish restaurant in town.

I was impressed with the ribbon-dancing, techno-shimmying Polish preteens, but the next day, I was even more impressed by these badass Polish break dancers. Although I have only rarely seen actual break dancing in the U.S., I've seen plenty of it on the streets of Europe. But these guys are the only ones I've ever seen who don't have some kind of cardboard mat. These guys spun on their heads on the bare cement.

Immediately after taking this picture, I stopped thinking about the blog post I would write when I got home and went back to relaxing. Everyone is always telling me that the best vacation pictures are the ones with people in them. I try to oblige my readers (haha, I
always wanted to say that), but as you can see above, I'm not quite coordinated enough. Yes, that's the side of my head.

technically, both of the animals guarding the fax machines are mustelids (the weasel family) not rodents. The right is a eurasian badger and the left is probably a marten...both of them are poorly taxidermied.
