Black Virgins
Went to the theater the other night on a whim and wound up seeing a play called Black Virgins. The script was monologues based on interviews the author did with Muslim women in Germany. Interestingly, these women were a) bald and wearing flesh-tone long underwear, as you can see above, b) a variety of nationalities, not all Turkish or Arabic (as one would expect in Germany), and c) not at all interested in catering to stereotypes or ideals of any kind (fascinating, and still nicely, non-linearly placed between I-could-identify-with-her and completely abrasive). It was sort of like the Vagina Monologues, but more religious. I'll probably write a paper about it someday....
